Court orders to seize flats of ex IGP Benazir’s wife in Dubai, freeze accounts

DHAKA, May 12, 2025(BSS)-A court here today ordered to seize two flats of former Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Benazir’s wife Jissan Mirza in Dubai and freeze two of her bank accounts there.

Senior Special Judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Md Jakir Hossain Galib passed the order following an appeal moved by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The estimated value of the two flats is 1,04,79,000 Dirham and the balance in the  two accounts is 1,62,000 Dirham.

According to the petition, the accused laundered the money beyond her known sources of income, which is a criminal offence according to the Anti-Corruption Commission Act under section 27(1).

It is indispensable to send back her immovable properties and freeze her movable assets from Dubai and the United Arab Emirates to prevent transfer, handover or sale   .

Earlier, on December 15, 2024, the ACC filed four separate cases against Benazir Ahmed, his wife Jissan Mirza and two of their daughters, accusing them of amassing illegal wealth worth about TK 74 crore and concealing asset information.

Jissan Mirza, allegedly amassed TK 31.69 crore illegal wealth and hide information about TK 16.01 crore.
