DHAKA, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) is all set to launch its youth wing ‘Jatiya Jubo Shakti’ on May 16 with an aim to bring an alternative to traditional youth wings of political parties that are often associated with violence, extortion, and factional control.
“Jatiya Jubo Shakti’ will emerge as an alternative to traditional youth political wing, which will be working as force committed to addressing the real issues facing young people—including unemployment, lack of access to economic resources, and exclusion from policymaking spaces,” the NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary told a press conference this afternoon at Rupayon Tower at Bangla Motor in the city.
The youth wing will be officially launched on May 16 at capital's Abrar Fahad Avenue in Gulistan, and the party Joint Chief Coordinator Adv. Tarikul Islam has been given responsibility in formation of this wing, according to the NCP leaders.
Nasiruddin said, “The ‘Jatiya Jubo Shakti’ will serve as a milestone in rebuilding Bangladesh. We will focus on the problems and possibilities of the youth, not on old political games.”
Recalling ex-Gonotantrik Chhatra Shakti’s role in toppling the Awami League regime Nasiruddin Patwary said, “The way 'Chhatra Shakti' helped removed Bangladesh's authoritarian system and brought Bangladesh to a new phase, the 'Jatiya Jubo Shakti' will serve as a milestone in rebuilding Bangladesh.”
Citing widespread frustration among youth, the organizers argued that young people remain largely shut out of economic and political opportunities.
“Our youth have no access to the economy, to credit systems, or to policymaking forums. This movement aims to change that. We believe the future of Bangladesh will be determined by the hands of these young people,” Patwary said.
Addressing the press conference, NCP Joint Chief Coordinator Adv. Tarikul Islam said, “We are committed to organizing Bangladesh’s youth and uniting them to work on their real problems and potentials.”
The committee for this wing has already been drafted and those in charge of committee formation have been instructed to ensure women and religious minorities (Hindu, Buddhist, Christian) participation.
NCP Joint Member Secretary Dr Jahedul Islam, Joint Chief Coordinators Tuhin Mahmud, S M Shahriar, Nahida Bushra and Radith Bin Zaman were also present at the press conference.
