Three land in jail over DU student murder

DHAKA, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent three individuals to jail, arrested in the case lodged over the murder of Dhaka University (DU) student and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Shahriar Alam Shammo.

The three accused, who were sent to jail, are Md Tamim Hawlader, Palash Sardar and Samrat Mallik.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamsed Alam passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to keep them behind bars till the end of probe in the case.

A team of Shahbagh Police Station arrested the three miscreants from the city's Green Road and Rajabazar area early today.

Shahriar Alam Shammo, 25, a student of the 2018-19 academic session of International Relations Department at Dhaka University, was fatally stabbed to death at Suhrawardi Udyan area adjacent to the university campus on Tuesday night.
