Ex-MP Kazim Uddin sent to jail in uprising killing case

DHAKA, May 15, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent former member of parliament (MP) from Mymensingh-11 (Bhaluka) constituency Kazim Uddin Ahmed Dhanu to jail in a case lodged over the killing of Ismail in the capital's Jatrabari area during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police produced Kazim Uddin before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of probe in the case.

He was arrested from the city's Aftab Nagar area at around 3:05 am today.

According to the case documents, Ismail got shot in Jatrabari area on July 19 last year. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the attending doctors declared him dead.

The case was filed on August 26, 2024.
