PANCHAGARH, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today detained 11 people, including women and children, who were pushed in by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) through different border areas in the district.
Acting Commander of Nilphamari BGB-56 Battalion Riyad Murshed confirmed the matter this afternoon, saying the people were pushed inside Bangladesh through Malkadanga and Danakata border areas in Boda Upazila of the district from Friday midnight to this afternoon.
He said it has been learnt that all the detainees are Bangladeshi citizens.
The detainees are: Taslima Khatun (40) of Bagbati village in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira, Marjina (40) of Chitla village in Kalaroa upazila, Nirufa Begum (40) of Shukra village in Kalia upazila of Narail, Sajida Khatun (40) of Rajapur village in Sharsha upazila of Jashore, Zahidul Islam (40) and Faizan Sheikh (10) of Atrashi village in Sadarpur upazila of Faridpur, Omar Faruk (37) of Domnakanti village in Shyambag upazila of Noakhali, Meem Akhter (22) of Madanpur village in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj, Shahnaz (34) of Chaurapara village in Sonargaon upazila, Tania (35) of Balapurerchar village in Madhabdi upazila of Narsingdi and Aleya (70) of Baundanga village in Terkhada upazila of Khulna.
According to the BGB, the Bangladeshi border security personnel detained the people pushed in from India when locals saw them roaming around the border areas.
Later, they were taken to the BGB camp for interrogation.
BGB officials said legal proceedings were underway for handing over them to Boda Police Station.
Acting Commander of Nilphamari BGB-56 Battalion Riyad Murshed said BGB is active in protecting the border. Regular operations are continuing to prevent infiltration and crimes, he added.
