DHAKA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - A special court here today convicted and 
sentenced a youth named Sajib to life-term imprisonment in a case lodged over 
rape of a six-year-old girl in Keraniganj in 2020.

Judge Md Munshid Moshiar Rahman of Dhaka Women and Children Repression 
Prevention Tribunal-4 pronounced the judgment this morning, prosecutor Ershad 
Alam (George) told BSS.

Sajib, son of Rashid Bepari of Kajirhat Police Station area under Mehendiganj 
upazila of Barishal district, used to live in South Keraniganj area. He was 
the neighbor of the victim.

According to the case documents, on May 5, 2020, the victim's rickshaw-puller 
father went out to his work, while her mother, who used to work in people's 
houses as maid, went to her work. At around, 12.30 pm, as the victim was 
playing with her two-year-old brother in front of their house, Sajib took the 
both children to his home and raped the girl there.

Victim's father later filed the case with the South Keraniganj Police 
Station. Police after that arrested Sajib and he gave a statement under 
section 164. Police on August 29, 2020, filed a charge-sheet against the sole 
accused.

Police today came up with the judgment after examining seven witnesses on 
different hearing dates.
