Court imposes travel ban on Nanok, his wife & daughter

DHAKA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanok, his wife Syeda Arjuman Banu and daughter S Amrin Rakhi in connection with a money laundering case.

Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Md Zakir Hossain Galib imposed the ban following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC in its petition told the court that Syeda Arjuman Banu, wife of Nanok and chairman of Ratul Telecom Limited, her daughter S Arman Rakhi and Nanok laundered Taka equivalent to 3,32,84,681 US dollars as the payment of international incoming calls terminated by IGW operator. The committed the offence under section 2(Ka)(2) of the Anti-money Laundering Act-2012.

The ACC came to know that the accused may leave the country that may hamper the investigation against them. That's why the court should impose travel ban on them.
