Principal Elius becomes 1st administrator of 7 colleges in Dhaka

DHAKA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - Prof AKM Elius, who was on Sunday appointed as the principal of Dhaka College on a contractual basis, has become the first administrator of the seven public colleges in Dhaka.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) sources said the Ministry of Public Administration has appointed Professor AKM Elius as the principal of Dhaka College on a contractual basis for a two-year term stating it will come into effect immediately.

Earlier, Prof Elius retired from the same position at Dhaka College.

In addition to his role at Dhaka College, he is also set to become the first administrator overseeing the interim management of the seven public colleges in Dhaka, according to UGC sources.

The seven colleges, affiliated with the University of Dhaka, are undergoing administrative restructuring and Prof Elius is expected to play a key role in guiding this transitional phase.

The activities of the seven public colleges in Dhaka will continue under a unified administrative framework to be overseen by the University Grants Commission (UGC) until a new university is established.

According to the UGC and related sources, the interim administration's main office will be set up at Dhaka College.
