44 among 'Patali Group' involved in stabbing six individuals of a family held

 DHAKA, May 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police on Sunday night in a special drive arrested 44 members of a teenage criminal gang 'Patali Group' including its second-in-command in Rayerbazar area for their suspected involvement in stabbing six members of a family in Mohammadpur three days back.

  The detainees have been identified as Shahin (21), second-in-command of the Patali Group, Srinath Mondal (25), Asad (55), Qurban (26), Shakib (22), Sajib (19), Parvez (20), Mosharraf (25), Rubel (27) , Riaz (18), Shahin (28), Emon (25), Rocky (22), Raja (38), Tushar (25), Sajal (28), Helal (37), Hridoy (21), Mursalin (20), Mamon (20), Safayet (20), Shuvo (19), Salman (18), Mazharul (18), Rabbi (18), Abzal (19), Yasim (19), Zahirul (19), Babu (19), Ruman (21), Zahirul (18), Suman (30), Sokel (18), Emdadul (25), Sagar (22), Shakib (20), Ujjwal (31), Akram (20), Jisan (23), Zillur (23), Hridoy (31), Shakib (22), Riaz (28) and Sohag (28).

   Mohammadpur Thana Police arrested the suspected criminals in a raid in Rayerbazar Boatghat area on Sunday night, confirmed Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

   Earlier on May 15 last, the Patali Group members hacked and seriously injured six members of one Rabbi's family in front of his house in the Ettyadi Intersection under Mohammadpur Thana.

   After this brutal attack, Mohammadpur Police Station launched a massive operation and was able to catch the perpetrators through a drive.

   Among the arrestees, there are professional drug dealers, robbers, warrant-bound suspects and criminals involved in various crimes.
