DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Singer Mainul Ahsan Noble was arrested from the capital's Staff Quarter area under Demra Police Station early today for allegedly raping and torturing a woman.

Confirming the arrest, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said the 31-year-old singer was arrested from the Staff Quarter area around 1:50 am.

Noble was arrested with the help of technology after a video showing him assaulting a woman went viral on social networking sites, according to Demra police.

Police said the victim came into contact with Noble through social media in 2018, and since then, the singer had occasionally communicated with her over the phone.

On November 12, 2024, Noble went to Mohammadpur to meet the victim and brought her to his residence in Demra, saying he would show her the studio located there.

Police said Noble then broke the victim's mobile phone, beat her while intoxicated, raped her, and recorded a video, threatening to release it on social media.

The victim was confined in Noble's Demra residence until May 19, 2025, with the help of two unidentified accomplices.

In the meantime, a video of Noble beating the victim went viral on social media, through which the victim's family identified her and called the national emergency service 999.

Following the 999 call, Demra police rescued the victim around 9:30 pm on Monday.

A case was filed with Demra Police Station in this connection.
