DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Actress Nusrat Faria was released from the Kashimpur Central Women's Jail today, hours after securing bail in a case filed over the July uprising with Vatara Police Station.

"We handed over Nusrat Faria to her mother around 3:28pm today after reviewing the bail documents," Rijia Begum, jailor of Kashimpur Central Women's Jail, told BSS.

Earlier in the day, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman granted her bail upon a bond amounting to Taka 5,000 following a hearing.

On May 19, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque had sent Nusrat to jail in the case filed with Vatara Police Station over an attempted murder of one Enamul Haque during the July mass uprising in the capital.

On May 18, Immigration Police arrested Nusrat at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) while she was attempting to travel to Thailand.

She was later handed over to Vatara Police Station, where she was shown arrested following primary interrogation.

According to the case documents, Enamul joined the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19 in the city's Vatara area. The rally came under attack, and he was shot in the leg. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment.

Enamul filed the case on May 3 against 283 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
