DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - The government is maintaining zero-tolerance policy against terrorist attacks on factories in Economic Zones (EZs).

"Terrorists do not have any party. They are only enemies of society and economy. All political parties in the country must play a responsible role in this regard and cooperate," said Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun in a press statement.

He believed that the top leadership of political parties does not support these activities. "Without their positive role, it's not possible to ensure a sustainable investment environment in the country," he added.

An unexpected and worrying incident took place in the National Special Economic Zone on Monday. Some local terrorists, posing as a political party, forcibly entered a factory, demanded extortion and later beat up the factory officials.

Immediately after the incident, a case was filed with the police station on behalf of the concerned factory. Based on the case, the police have already arrested one person and are continuing the operation to arrest the remaining accused.

The government is considering this incident with great seriousness and has clearly stated that a zero tolerance policy will be followed to ensure the security of the country's economic zones and industrial establishments.
