Anisul Huq, 2 others remanded over Riaj killing case

DHAKA, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed former Law Minister Anisul Huq, ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's private sector industry and investment Adviser Salman F Rahman and Awami League leader Nuru Miah on a two-day remand each in Md Riaj killing case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to place them on a five-day remand each in the case.

According to the case documents, Md Riaj, 23, sustained critical gunshot injuries on August 4, 2024, in the city's Science Laboratory area while en route to Jigatola. He succumbed to his injuries on August 17 at a hospital.

Riaj's mother Shafia begum filed the case with the Dhanmandi Police Station on September 9.
