Ex-minister Eng Mosharraf, Babul Chakhari remanded in murder attempt case

DHAKA, June 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed former housing and public works minister engineer Mosharraf Hossain and Bangladesh People's Party chairman Babul Sardar Chakhari on a three-day remand each in an attempt to murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Mejbah Ur Rahman passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a 10-day remand each in the case.

According to the case documents, Gono Odhikar Parishad leader Badrul Islam Saimon joined a grand rally declared by BNP and its allies in the capital on October 28, 2023. The rally came under attack, and Saimon got shot in the incident. He filed the case on April 29, 2025, with the Paltan Model Police Station against 245, including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
