Ex-MP Jafar Alam placed on 18-day remand in 7 cases

COX’S BAZAR, June 18, 2025 (BSS) – Ex- MP from Cox’s Bazar-1 constituency Jafar Alam was taken into 18 days remand in connection with seven cases here today.

Senior Judicial Magistrate of (Chokoria circle) Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Anwarul Kabir today granted his remand after hearing separate petitions submitted by the Investigation Officers (IOs) of those cases.

According to the court sources, Jafar Alam, also the president of recently banned Awami League’s Chokoria Upazila unit, has been accused in five cases with Chokoria Thana and two cases with Pekua Thana.

The court granted 14 days remand in five cases of Chokoria Thana and four days in two cases of Pekua Thana respectively. 

Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) for Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Chokoria Md Golam Sarwar told the journalists that the Investigation Officers of six murder cases of Chokoria and Pekua Thana and another explosive substances act case submitted separate petitions seeking his 24 days remand. 

The court after hearing the prosecution, granted18 days remand to interrogate him in connection with those cases.
