Cop injured in road accident, driver sentenced to one month in prison

DHAKA, June 18, 2025 (BSS) - A summary trial court on Tuesday sentenced a 
driver of an auto-rickshaw Abdul Khalek (52) to one month imprisonment as a 
policeman was critically injured after being hit by his vehicle.  
 
Traffic constable Shishir Kumar Bala was seriously injured in an accident 
that occurred due to the speeding of a battery-powered auto-rickshaw at 
Shapla Chattar in Motijheel on Tuesday morning.
 
After the incident, the auto-rickshaw driver was arrested and handed over to 
Motijheel Police Station.
 
Later, the Special Metropolitan Magistrate of the Motijheel Division Summary 
Trial Court of DMP sentenced the arrested Abdul Khalek to one month's 
imprisonment.
 
Motijheel-Traffic Division sources said that since Tuesday (June 17, 2025) 
morning, Traffic Sergeant Sabuj Biswas was performing his professional duties 
along with other police members at Shapla Chattar.
 
Around 9:30 am on Tuesday, Traffic Constable Shishir Kumar Bala signaled an 
auto-rickshaw to stop.
 
But the auto-rickshaw driver recklessly drove the vehicle and hit Constable 
Shishir and dragged him away in which he was seriously injured.
 
The injured constable was immediately sent to Rajarbagh Central Police 
Hospital for primary treatment.
