DNCC imparts training to its field-workers to combat dengue

DHAKA, June 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has imparted a two-day training to its field level workers involved in containing spread of Aedes mosquito and dengue diseases in the city.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the DNCC Muhammad Asaduzzaman inaugurated the two-day training programme on Tuesday that was concluded today. Chief Health Officer of the DNCC Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury presided over the inaugural function, said a DNCC press release. 

The trainers of the programme focused on accurate measurement of the insecticide, its use of procedure, use of insecticides at exact location and time and identification of the breeding places of Aedes mosquitoes and its destruction during the two-day training.

In his inaugural speech the DNCC CEO said that the training for the mosquito supervisors and its fighters will play an active role in destroying the breeding places of the Aedes mosquitoes that will help to contain dengue.

Chief Health Officer Imrul Kayes said a total of 1100 mosquito supervisors and fighters at the field level have been trained in four batches during the last two-day to tackle dengue menace.

This training was held at DNCC Bhaban in Gulshan-2, Uttara Community Centre, Mohakhali Community Centre and Suchana Community Centre at Mohammadpur at the corporation’s own finance.

Earlier, a total of 122 physicians and 38 nurses of different hospitals were given basic training on dengue patients’ management by the DNCC. National Instructors of the directorate general of the health services (DGHS) imparted the training to the doctors and the nurses.
