Six burnt in 'gas cylinder blast' in Ashulia

SAVAR, June 18, 2025 (BSS) - Six people including two women sustained severe 
burn injuries in a fire reportedly from a gas cylinder blast in Ashulia on 
Wednesday morning.

The injured were Jahanara, 40, Jewel, 24, Shanto, 21, Hawa Akhter, 23, 
Zahurul Islam, 26, and Nasir, 38.

A wall of a two-storey building collapsed in the explosion that occurred this 
morning at Badhiarpar adjacent to Mandal Market in Nishchintapur area of 
Ashula.

Initially, the injured were taken to Ashulia Women and Children Hospital and 
later four were shifted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery 
as their conditions worsened, said Harun Or Rashid, manager of Ashulia Women 
and Children's Hospital.

Al Rifat Talukder, duty officer of the Jirabo Model Fire Service, said 
initially it is believed that the explosion occurred due to gas accumulated 
from the leakage. The matter is being investigated. Details will be announced 
later.
