2 detained with 195 cartons of illegal cigarettes in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, June 18, 2025 (BSS) - Airport authorities today detained two inbound passengers with 195 cartons of foreign cigarettes at Shah Amanat International Airport.

Additionally, ten mobile phones and banned creams were recovered from one of the detainees.

The detained are Mohammad Abu Naser, a resident of Nishchintapur under Fatikchhari upazila, and Mintu Debnath, a resident of Chandgaon in the port city.

Acting on a tip-off from the National Security Intelligence (NSI), the Airport Security Force (AVSEC) and Air Force Task Force conducted two separate operations.

Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil said all the seized items have been handed over to airport customs.

The detainees were handed over to police.
