Salman F Rahman remanded in fresh uprising case

DHAKA, June 19, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's former adviser Salman F Rahman on a four-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of vegetable vendor Shaon in Ashulia area during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Tajul Islam passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case. The court also showed former law minister Anisul Huq arrested in the case.

According to the case documents, Md Shahabul Islam Shaon used to sell vegetables on his rickshaw-van in Ashulia area. He joined the anti-discrimination rally on August 4 in Ashulia Baipail area and got shot. Shaon died on the spot.

Shaon's elder brother Md Tauhidul Miah filed the case with the Ashulia Police Station.

Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq were arrested from the capital's Sadarghat area as they were trying to flee the capital through the waterways on August 13, 2024.
