DHAKA, June 19, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said Dr. Zubaida Rahman always stood by her husband Tarique Rahman's sorrows and crises and she fulfilled her duties like a virtuous wife, which set an example for all women.
He made the remarks as the chief guest in a discussion, special prayer (doa mahfil) and gifts distribution programme among children to mark the 53rd birth anniversary of Dr. Zubaida Rahman.
Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS), cultural wing of BNP, organised the event in the conference room of BNP's central office in Nayapaltan of the city.
Tarique Rahman faced imprisonment, oppression and physical torture but Zubaida Rahman remained by his side and never abandoned him, the BNP leader added.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi further said, "After Tarique Rahman's arrest, Dr. Zubaida remained steadfast beside her husband despite the mental torment, intimidation and various tactics employed by the then government. She consistently worked for his release and proper medical treatment."
BNP’s treasure M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and cultural secretary Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Uzzal was present as the special guest.
Ethun Babu, famous singer and Joint Convener of JASAS, presided over the event while actor Shiba Sanu conducted the event. Among others, JASAS's central leaders and activists were present on the occasion.
After the discussion, special prayer (doa mahfil) and gift distribution programmes were held. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi distributed the gifts among the children.
