German ambassador pays courtesy call on Jamaat chief

DHAKA, June 19, 2025 (BSS) – Outgoing German Ambassador to Bangladesh Achim Troster paid a courtesy call on Jamaat-e- Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at the party's central office in the capital's Moghbazar today. 

During the meeting, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman highlighted Jamaat-e-Islami's ongoing efforts to contribute to the establishment of a meaningful democratic system in Bangladesh. 

He stated that his party is committed to building a corruption-free administration, promoting justice, addressing economic challenges and reforming the education system to develop a responsible nation. 

He also expressed optimism about the growth of commercial and bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Germany in the coming years.

Ambassador Troster stressed the importance of democracy, political stability, economic development, and environmental sustainability in Bangladesh. 

He remarked that genuine democracy cannot be achieved through violence, emphasizing the need for an inclusive and 'accommodating political mindset'.
