DHAKA, June 19, 2025 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam today visited the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to inquire about the health condition of two police personnel of the Detective Branch (DB) who were injured in the firing by drug dealers during an anti-drug raid in Fakirapool area early Thursday.
During the visit, the police chief inquired about the treatment and health condition of the bullet wounded policemen.
Police officers of the concerned department were present at that time.
Police arrested three drug peddlers for their suspected connection with a shooting that injured three Detective Branch (DB) personnel in the capital's Fakirapool area.
Around 9,500 pieces of Yaba tablets and a private car used in the drug peddling were seized from them.
Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter to BSS.
He said three members of DB suffered bullet injuries as suspected drug traffickers fired gunshots at them when they were in an anti-drug raid in Fakirapool early today.
In the firing, Assistant Commissioner Soeb Kabir sustained bullet wounds in his hand while Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Atik Hasan in his abdomen and Constable Sujan in his leg, he said.
AC Soeb took first aid while the remaining two were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
The drug traffickers fired gunshots from inside a private car at the DB personnel as they attempted to intercept the car, he said.
Three suspects were arrested at the scene, while several others managed to flee under the cover of gunfire.
A case was filed in this connection.
