DHAKA, June 21, 2025 (BSS) - Police on Friday arrested four members of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a student wing of the Awami League, with explosives and domestic weapons from different parts of the capital city.

The arrestees were identified as Md Shukkar (19), Md Jihad (19), Rahim (19) and Sumon (18).

Confirming the arrest, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said a team of Mirpur Police Station arrested them from DC Road, adjacent to the Directorate of Primary Education, Mirpur-2 around 4:15 pm on Friday,

Police conducted the raid following secret information that some leaders and activists of the banned BCL were collecting people from the slum areas in exchange for money and staying near the Primary Education Department of Mirpur-2 to create chaos and riots in a procession organized by the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).

Based on such information, a team of Mirpur Model Police Station quickly reached the spot and arrested the four persons. At that time, two crude bombs, an iron chapati, two knives, an iron blade, a steel pipe, and a motorcycle chain were recovered from their possessions.

A case was filed in this connection with Mirpur Model Police Station.
