BNP to sue former election commissioners over 2014, 2018, 2024 polls

DHAKA, June 21, 2025 (BSS) – BNP is set to file cases against former Chief Election Commissioners and other commissioners who were responsible for the 10th, 11th, and 12th National Parliamentary Elections.

BNP Central Committee Member Salahuddin Khan will file the case tomorrow (Sunday) morning with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, according to BNP Media Cell member Shyrul Kabir Khan. 

Senior party leaders will accompany him.

He said that BNP will file lawsuits against the Chief Election Commissioners and other commissioners responsible for conducting the last three national elections. 

A copy of the complaint will first be submitted to the Election Commission office at 10 am, followed by the formal filing of the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, he added.

On June 16, during a meeting of the National Consensus Commission at state guest house Jamuna, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus directed the relevant authorities to immediately form a committee to investigate the role of the former Chief Election Commissioners, Election Commissioners, and Secretaries of the Election Commission Secretariat in the three controversial parliamentary elections.
