NAOGAON, June 22, 2025(BSS) - Six police personnel, including an officer-in-charge (OC), have been withdrawn from duty for their alleged involvement in an alleged attempt to leak question papers in Dhamoirhat Thana, official sources said here today.

Shariful Islam, Additional Superintendant of police of Patnitola circle, said the withdrawn police personnel are - OC of Dhamoihat Thana Abdul Malek, police constables Rezawanur Rahman, Atiqur Rahman and Mehedi Hassan. The authority earlier withdrawn Sub-Inspector Zakirul Islam and constable Iqbal Hossain from the same police station over the same incident, he added.

The Additional SP said that some trunks containing question papers of the up-coming HSC examination were supposed to be kept at the store room (Malkhana) of Dhamoirhat Thana but the Thana authority kept it in the Thana hazaj on Tuesday night.

An accused of a drug case was kept at the same hazat on Friday night and he removed the seal and opened it. He also tore some question papers and left it in the room in a scattered position, Shariful Islam said. The thana authority noticed the matter in the next morning and withdrawn SI Zakir and constable Iqbal as they were on duty at the thana hazat, he added.

When contacted, Additional Deputy Commission (education & ICT) of Naogaon Sadia Afrin told BSS that two inquiry committees have already been constituted in this regard.

There were 50 sets of question papers in the thana custody but no question paper went missing, she added.
