Tarique Rahman stands by Kushtia rape victim

KUSHTIA, June 22, 2025 (BSS) - BNP today provided financial assistance to the family of the rape victim at the directive of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman,

Five-year-old child was allegedly raped in Jotpara village of Patikabari union of Kushtia Sadar upazila on June 11 last.

.

Local BNP leaders with the support of UK BNP member Zahidul Islam handed over financial assistance to victim's family. 

Talking over mobile phone from London Zahidul Islam said Tarique Rahman came to know about the rape victim through media reports and asked him to stand by the victim’s family.
 
“I immediately contacted with the local BNP leaders. They visited the child's house today and provided financial assistance. Besides, we are by the side of the family for any need, including legal support,” he said. 

Kushtia Sadar thana BNP Joint Convener Selim Reza Biswas, Patikabari union BNP member secretary Matiur Rahman Liton, Union Search Committee Member Abdul Khalek, Sadar Thana Krishak Dal Joint Secretary Shimul Biswas and others were present. 

Victim’s neighbour Bisharat Ali Bisha (60) was accused of calling the child to his house and raping her in the evening on June 11.
 
The victim’s mother told BSS that she never imagined Tarique Rahman would stand beside a helpless poor person like them.

“We got courage with his assurance and cooperation. We hope that Tarique Rahman will stand by us and help us getting justice,” she said.
