DHAKA, June 23, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent to jail former lawmaker
of Munshiganj-3 constituency Mohammad Faisal Biplob in a case lodged over the
killing of Jubo Dal leader Shamim.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mustafizur Rahman passed the order as
police produced Biplob before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars
till end of the probe in the case.

Detective Branch (DB) of police last night detained Biplob from the capital's
Monipuripara area.

According to the case documents, BNP called a grand rally in the capital on
October 28, 2023. On the same day, Awami League (AL) also held a counter-
rally aiming to foil the BNP's programme.

Later, clashes broke out in Naya Paltan, where AL activists, allegedly with
the support of the police, attacked the BNP's rally, killing Jubo Dal leader
Shamim on the spot.

The case was filed with the Paltan Police Station on September 24, 2024.
