Nation heading for February polls: Khasru

DHAKA, June 23, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said the nation is heading for the elections in the first half of February with united efforts.

He told journalists after a meeting of a liaison committee of the party at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan here.

Gano Forum leaders SM Altaf Hossain, Subrata Chowdhury, Jaglul Haider Afrik, Suraiya Begum, Mustaq Ahmed and Salim Akbar were present in the meeting.

Khasru said the people have taken very positively the announcement of elections timeline in the first half of February in the meeting between Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in London.

Apprehension, he said, centering the polls in the people's mindset has been overcome following the announcement.

About mob culture, the senior BNP leader said the party has a strong position against it as BNP is committed to establishing politics of tolerance and mutual respect in Bangladesh.
