Hanif sent to jail in ex CEC KM Nurul Huda attack case

DHAKA, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court has ordered to send Md Hanif, secretary of the Swechchhasebak Dal Uttara Paschim Thana unit, to jail in connection with the recent mob attack on former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.

Police produced Hanif before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court earlier today. 

Following a plea of investigating officer to detain him until completion of the investigation, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman granted the request and ordered Hanif to be sent behind the bar.

According to the case details, a group of unidentified individuals assaulted the former CEC at a residence at Uttara, Sector 5, on June 22 by creating mob. 

Law enforcers promptly rushed to the scene and rescued KM Nurul Huda.

Later, Huda was taken to the Airport Police Station. He was later transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) office.

Sub-Inspector Sajib Hasan of Uttara West Police Station filed the case earlier today, naming six individuals as accused of the incident. 

The charges fall under Sections 143, 448, 323 and 500 of the Penal Code.
