DHAKA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court and Chairman of the Legal Education Committee of the Bangladesh Bar Council Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun has announced a series of initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of lawyers across the country including those practicing at the High Court.

He made the announcement while addressing the 'Eid Reunion' and cultural evening program organized by the Greater Cumilla Nationalist Lawyers Unity Council, held today at the Supreme Court Lawyers Association Auditorium in the capital.

Speaking as the chief guest, Barrister Mamun emphasized the need for better transportation access for Supreme Court lawyers, especially those facing daily commuting challenges.

He said initiatives would be taken to facilitate transportation from different parts of the capital to ensure smooth participation in court activities.

Highlighting a pressing concern, he noted that despite the presence of thousands of lawyers at the Supreme Court, there are currently no medical facilities available in the Lawyers Association area.

Establishing a permanent medical center in the Supreme Court lawyers association premises is essential and it will be pursued as a priority, he said.

Barrister Mamun added that all initiatives would be taken in coordination with practicing lawyers of the Supreme Court to ensure effective and sustainable welfare measures.

The event's keynote speaker was Advocate Md Borhan Uddin, member of the BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council and former president of the Dhaka Bar Association.

Special guests included Barrister Badruddoza Badal, former secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association and president of the Supreme Court Unit of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum and Advocate Md. Abdul Matin, member of the Bangladesh Bar Council and former president of the Dhaka Tax Bar.
