Sheikh Hasina, Quader, Kamal, Mozammel sued in two murder cases in Gazipur

GAZIPUR, July 2, 2025 (BSS) – Two murder cases were filed on Tuesday against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque in the district. 

The cases were lodged with Kaliakair Police Station against them and 800 unknown individuals in connection with shooting dead two youths Abdullah Al Mamun, 20, and Hafizul Islam Gazi, 25, during an anti-discrimination student movement in front  of Safipur Ansar Academy in Gazipur on August 4.

Police Super of Gazipur district Chowdhury Md Jaber Sadek said two cases were lodged with Kaliakair Police Station in Gazipur regarding killing of two people. 

“We will take required legal action in this regard after investigation,” he said.  
  
In the case statement, it was alleged that Hafizul Islam Gazi sustained critical bullet injuries as the procession he took part came under gun attack in front of 3 No. gate of Ansar Academy in the afternoon of August 4. Many people were also injured in the attack.

Locals rushed Hafizul to Kumudini Medical College Hospital in Mirzapur, where he succumbed to his injuries on August 5.

Eleven months after the incident, Abdul Hamid Gazi, elder brother of the deceased Hafizul, filed a murder case with Kaliakair Police Station on Tuesday mentioning names of 17 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, AKM Mozammel Haque, President of Sheikh Russell Jatiya Shishu Kishore Parishad Talha Bin Oli and Sagir Ahmed and 400 unidentified individuals.

In accordance with the case statement filed with Kaliakair Police Station for killing Abdullah Al Mamun by the deceased friend Nayan Mia on Tuesday. Sheikh Hasina was made prime accused while Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and 400 unknown individuals were also accused in the case.
