New CAAB chairman takes charge

DHAKA, July 3, 2025 (BSS) - Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq today 
assumed office as the new Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of 
Bangladesh (CAAB).

He replaced Air Vice Marshal Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, who was transferred from 
the position on June 26 last. 

Commissioned into the Bangladesh Air Force in 1992 through the Royal 
Malaysian Air Force, Siddiq brings over three decades of experience in 
command, operations, training and administration.

A decorated fighter pilot with over 2,900 flying hours, he served in key 
positions including Commandant of the BAF Academy, Director (Recruitment) and 
Director (Air Operations) at Air Headquarters, and Air Officer Commanding at 
BAF Base Bir Uttam AK Khandakar.

He studied defence institutions in Bangladesh, India, and the United States 
and completed specialized training in Malaysia, India and Turkey. 

Siddiq also served in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic 
of the Congo as Contingent Commander of the Bangladesh Aviation Transport 
Unit.

In recognition of his service, he has been awarded the Bangladesh Sena Padak 
(BSP) and Gallantry in United Peacekeeping Operations (GUP) medal.
