PIRGANJ, Thakurgaon, July 4, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam today urged all to fight for building a new Bangladesh by eliminating regional disparities and carrying out development work in all areas together.

“Hasina’s dictatorship has fallen through a mass uprising. We are now fighting to build a new country. The ‘July Walkathon’ is to build a new country,” he said while speaking at a street march as part of NCP’s ongoing programme 'Desh Gorte July Padayatra' (July Walkathon for Building the Nation) at Pirganj upazila under Thakurgaon district.

Earlier, NCP leaders started the fourth-day march from the old bus stand in Thakurgaon.

Nahid said, “We are fighting to build a new Bangladesh. In a Bangladesh where there will be no more discrimination, fascism, where there will be no more injustice, extortion, terrorism. Students and youth have to come forward to build this new country.”

Mentioning that young people protected the country and its independence, he urged everyone to be alert so that this independence does not fall in the hands of the oppressors.

“We are going to every district of North Bengal . . . Regional disparities remain in the districts of North Bengal,” he added.

He said, “Our demands are very few. We want the right to rice, the right to work, medical treatment and education. We will build the country independently and with dignity.”

At the street march, NCP senior joint convener Samantha Sharmin said, "If the education and health systems are not changed, we will not become a strong nation. We will continue our fight until the fascist structure is changed."
