30th death anniversary of Justice Ansar Ali observed

DHAKA, July 5, 2025 (BSS) - The 30th death anniversary of renowned Justice Muhammad Ansar Ali was observed today.

To mark his death anniversary, special prayers, Quran recitations, and doa mahfils (prayer gatherings) were organized at the deceased's grave in Banani and at his ancestral home in Naogaon. 

Late Justice Muhammad Ansar Ali started his career in the year of 1962 at Dhaka High Court and in 1968 at Pakistan Supreme Court, according to a Supreme Court press release here. 

He was the elected senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, Treasurer of the Bar Association and was also elected twice as the President of the then Rangpur High Court Bar Association.

In 1952, he was imprisoned for his participation in the Language Movement. He was awarded posthumous “Matribhasha Padak 2001”, for his role in the language movement.
 
He was also a freedom fighter of our Great War of Liberation of 1971.
Late Justice Ansar Ali was very much known for his legal acumen, knowledge and pleasing personality. 

He was an ardent supporter to establish the rule of law and the independence of judiciary. 

He was a disciplined judge and earned confidence of all by his landmark reported judgments. 

His youngest son, Justice Ahmed Sohel is a sitting judge of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
