FENI, July 5, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has strongly emphasized the need for urgent and fundamental electoral reforms, warning that failure to do so could pave the way for resurgence of fascism in the country.

Speaking as the chief guest at a peaceful rally held at the King of Feni Community Center this afternoon, Dr Rahman said, "Fascism will not be created if elections are held through the proportional representation (PR) method. This system will shut the doors to black money and muscle power."

He cautioned that holding elections without reform would be tantamount to "murdering democracy" and a betrayal of the sacrifices made by the nation's youth.

"We will fight until fascism is uprooted. Fundamental and urgent reforms cannot be delayed. If elections are held without cleaning up the garbage, it will be a disgrace to the democratic process," he added.

Dr Rahman also vowed that his party would not allow dishonesty in the electoral process.

"We will not be dishonest. We will not let anyone be dishonest. The time has come to cleanse the system and ensure justice for the people," he added.
