CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 6, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam today said July mass uprising shows the dream of a justice-based country that involves eliminating regional disparities through equitable development in all areas together.
“Chapainawabganj has been a victim of regional discrimination for a long time. Discrimination was in education and medical treatment. We dream of a Bangladesh where there will be no regional discrimination. July mass uprising shows us the dream of a justice-based country,” he said.
He said this while speaking at a street march as part of NCP’s ongoing programme 'Desh Gorte July Padayatra' (July Walkathon for Building the Nation) at Chapainawabganj town.
On the sixth day of the July Walkathon, the party's leaders and activists reached Chapainawabganj. The march started from Shantir Mor area of ??Chapainawabganj town and ended at the college premises after circling Baten Khan Mor, Nimtala Mor, and Baro Indara Mor.
Nahid said, “We’ve come to you with the message of the July mass uprising . . . it is the message that shows the dream of a justice-based country, the message that shows the dream of building a non-discriminatory society. We dream of that Bangladesh.”
“We have come to listen to your problems. We know that Chapainawabganj is the mango capital, but no government has taken any initiative to turn mango into an industry and export it,” he added.
Referring to the two martyrs of Chapainawabganj in the anti-dictatorship Hasina movement, Nahid said, "May we be able to build the dream country that the martyrs gave their lives to build. They gave their lives for a new, prosperous Bangladesh. It is our responsibility to realize the dreams of the martyrs. We cannot betray it."
NCP member secretary Akhtar Hossain said, "You have been victims of regional and political discrimination for a long time. We do not want to see any more political discrimination in the new Bangladesh."
