COX'S BAZAR, July 8, 2025 (BSS) - A student of Chittagong University (CU) drowned and two others went missing while taking a bath in the Bay in the Himchhari area of Cox's Bazar this morning.

The deceased was identified as Sadman Rahman Sabab, 21, a first-year student at the Department of Development Studies and son of KM Anisur Rahman, a resident of A/7 Pallabi South, Mirpur, Dhaka.

The two students who went missing are Aritra Hasan, son of Aminul Islam, of Bogura's Dakshin Sonsania village, and Asif Ahmed, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Naruli South in Bogura Sadar. Both are from the same department.

Five friends came on a trip to Cox's Bazar on Monday and went to Himchhari beach this morning, said Imtiaz Ahmed, an official of the Sea Safe Life Guard Organization.

Two of them were sitting on the beach while the other three were bathing in the sea when they were swept away by the waves.

After a while, Sadman's body was recovered, but the other two remain missing, he said.

Fire Service, Tourist Police, and Life Guard personnel are carrying out rescue operations, said Asif Khan, duty officer at the Cox's Bazar Fire Service Station.

Additional DIG of Tourist Police Apel Mahmud said, "The body of a student named Sabab has been recovered. A search is underway to rescue the remaining two students."
