DHAKA, July 8, 2025 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced three drug peddlers to life imprisonment each in a case lodged over the recovery of 14,000 yaba tablets from their possessions in the capital’s Rayerbagh area in 2023.

The three convicts are- Kabir Mollah, Md Ishak and Md Hossain.

Judge Arunabh Chakraborty of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-2 pronounced the judgment in presence of the convicts. The court also fined them TK one lakh each, in default to suffer six months more behind bars.

According to the case documents, the accused were carrying the yaba pills  in a Toyota land cruiser SUV on November 30, 2023. 

Police halted the vehicle in Rayerbagh area under Jatrabari police station and recovered the contraband tablets from their possessions. 

Police on December 1, 2023, filed the case. The court today came up with the judgment after examining seven witnesses on different hearing dates.
