ARSA chief taken on 3-day remand for ‘four-murder’ in Rohingya camp

COX’S BAZAR, July 9, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today granted three days police remand to Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) Chief Ataullah Abu Ammar  Jununi for his alleged involvement in the killing of four people in Rohingya camp here in 2020.

A team of CID police produced him before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Asaf Uddin Asif with a prayer for granting his seven days remand to interrogate him in connection with the murder. 

The court after hearing the statement of the prosecution side, granted his three-day police remand. 

Earlier, the ARSA chief was taken to the court from Cox’s Bazar district jail with tight security and later sent to the same jail after ending the hearing, Court Inspector Md Golam Jilani said. 

The CID police will interrogate him at their convenient time and place, the court inspector added.

Four people were killed in a bloody clash between the two factions of Rohingya on October 6 in 2020. ARSA Chief Ataullah is an accused in that case. 

Police arrested ARSA Chief Ataullah and five of his accomplices from Siddirganj area in Narayanganj district and Mymensingh town on March18 last.
