Two held with Indian cosmetics in Moulvibazar

DHAKA, July 9, 2025 (BSS) - Police in a special operation arrested two persons along with a huge quantity of Indian smuggled goods worth about nearly Taka 50 lakh from Moulvibazar district. 

The arrested have been identified as Golam Kibria alias Sultan,20, hailed from Sunamganj district and Md. Monir Hossain,38, from Cox's Bazar district.

A team of Moulvibazar District Detective Branch (DB) conducted a special operation in Sadhuhati area under Moulvibazar Sadar upazila and arrested two smugglers with huge Indian smuggled cosmetics worth about nearly Taka 50 lakh on Tuesday, said a police press release.

A total of 16,164 pieces of face cream and 192 pieces of face wash were seized during the operation and the estimated value of the cosmetics is about Taka 49, 77,336.

RAB personnel have also seized a refrigerator van. 

A case has been filed against the arrested persons under the Special Powers Act.
