CUMILLA, July 9, 2025(BSS)-A court here today placed alleged   ‘mastermind’ Shah Poran on 5-day remand who spread a naked video on a recent rape incident in Muradnagar upazila of the district.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Ruhul Amin of Muradnagar Thana also the investigation officer (IO) of the case produced Shah Poran before the court of Judicial Magistrate court -11 Monimul Haque and prayed for granting  10-day remand. The court after hearing the statement of the prosecution, granted   five-day remand of the accused.

Shah Poran, a younger brother of the main accused of the rape incident Fazar Ali was arrested by RAB from Burichang upazila of the district on July 3. He was later handed over to Muradnagar police station from where he was sent to Cumilla central jail through a court.

The IO of the case told the media that Shah Poran in a premeditated way recorded the naked video of the rape incident and circulated it through social media. 

A woman was raped by Fazar Ali at Baherchar village under Muradnagar upazila in the night of June 26. Locals beat Farzar Ali up and released him from the spot. 

The victim, a day after the incident, filed two cases-one is for rape and the other is under pornography act, with Muradnagar police station. 

Police, later, arrested Fazar Ali from Dhaka for his direct involvement in the rape incident and arrested Sumon, Ramjan Ali, Md Anik, Md Arif and Shah Poran under pornography act.
