Illegal goods worth Taka 15 lakh seized at Ctg airport

CHATTOGRAM, July 10, 2025 (BSS) - Authorities seized a consignment of illegal goods-including banned creams, foreign cigarettes, mobile phones, and a laptop-from three passengers at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport last night. 

The estimated market value of the seized items is around Taka 15 lakh. Shah Amanat Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil confirmed the matter.

He said the items were recovered from the luggage of three passengers who arrived on Air Arabia flight number 061 from Abu Dhabi at 8:55 pm on Wednesday. The trio was subjected to a search due to suspicious behavior while crossing the green channel.

The passengers were identified as Md Ripon of Feni Sadar Upazila, and Mojibur Rahman and Tajul Islam of Chhagalnaiya.

As it was their first reported offense, the goods were confiscated, and the passengers were released with a warning, said the official.

The seized items include 2,500 pieces of banned imported cream, 100 cartons of foreign cigarettes, seven mobile phones, and one laptop.

According to the valuation, the creams are worth around Taka 7.5 lakh, cigarettes Taka 2.8 lakh, mobile phones Taka 4.2 lakh, and the laptop around Taka 65 thousand.

The joint operation was conducted by officials of the National Security Intelligence (NSI), Customs Aviation Security (CAS), and the Bangladesh Air Force.
