BHOLA, July 10, 2025 (BSS)- Public life and livelihood were disrupted severely as all launch services of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) remained suspended for few days because of inclement weather.

BIWTA launch services on fifteen internal river routes of the district remained suspended for the last seven days due to inclement weather and torrential rain, officials said.

All river basins remained volatile due to monsoon weather and torrential rain for the last one week and movement of all water transports remained suspended.

Under the situation, no launch or sea-truck on fifteen routes is plying, causing immense sufferings of the passengers.

In the last two days, nearly 200 mm rainfall were recorded in the district while 96.3 mm rainfall were recorded during the last 24 hours, said M Maniruzzaman, a observer of Bhola Meteorological Department.

Adverse weather along with incessant rainfall has created a huge trouble for the officer goers, students and people of different professions.

Only some ferries were in operation on Bhola-Lakshmipur route, allowing the people to move on the route.

Launch service on the route will remain suspended until the weather condition become stable, said BIWTA and Bhola port officials.
