Ex-minister Nuruzzaman denied bail in two ACC cases

DHAKA, July 10, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today rejected the petitions seeking bail of former social welfare minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed in two cases of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed for amassing and concealing illegal wealth beyond known sources of income. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hozzain Galib rejected the bail petitions after hearing both the prosecution and defense. The former minister was produced before the court. 

The court also re-fixed September 8 for submitting investigation reports in the cases as the ACC failed to submit those today.

Earlier on February 3 last, the ACC filed two cases against Nuruzzaman Ahmed and his wife Hosne Ara Begum on charges of acquiring illegal assets beyond known sources of income.
