Two to walk gallows for killing mother-daughter

DHAKA, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two people to death in a case lodged over the killing of Yasmin Alam and her daughter Irina Alam Tanha in the capital's Kadamtali area in 2010.

The two convicts are Md Al Amin and Md Miraj Mollah.

Judge Nargis Islam of Dhaka 2nd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court pronounced the judgment in presence of the convicts and also fined them Taka 20,000 each.

According to the case documents, Yasmin and her daughter were strangled to death on May 8, 2010, by the former wife of his husband and her associates. Yasmin's brother Monir Hossain filed the case with the Kadamtali Police Station and the police on August 31, 2010, submitted charge sheet.

The court on January 8, 2022, framed charges against the accused. Fifteen witnesses were examined by the court on different hearing dates.
