Amu, Golap shown arrested in separate July Uprising murder cases

DHAKA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed former minister and senior Awami League leader Amir Hossain Amu and party publicity and publication secretary Abdus Subhan Golap arrested in two separate murder cases linked to the 2024 July Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masum Miah issued the orders after police produced the duo before the court and sought to show them arrested in connection with the cases.

Amu, also a former Jhalokati-2 lawmaker, was shown arrested in the Sujon Mahmud murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station. He was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police on November 6, 2024, from the capital's Pashchim Dhanmondi area.

Golap, a former MP, was shown arrested in the Abdullah Siddiqui murder case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station. He was apprehended by DB police on August 25, 2024, in the city's Nakhalpara area.
