DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddique on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of furniture store employee Pervej Bepari during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and requested a 10-day remand.

Earlier on August 20, 2025, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain had shown Siddique arrested in the case.

On April 29, 2025, a group of 10 to 15 people apprehended and assaulted Siddique while he was walking through the city's Bailey Road area and later handed him over to police.

According to case documents, Pervej Bepari, 23, participated in an anti-discrimination student movement rally in front of Subastu Tower under Gulshan Police Station on July 19, 2024. The rally came under attack after Jumma prayers, leaving Pervej shot and critically injured. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Later, Pervej's father Md Sabuj filed the case, naming Siddique as the 223rd accused.
