DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said the Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) panel will win in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), if the upcoming election is held free and fair.

"If Dhaka University students can freely exercise their right to vote, the JCD panel will be victorious," he said as the chief guest at a rally and discussion organized by Dhaka District BNP marking the party's 47th founding anniversary.

The BNP leader stated that JCD is an organisations of movements, struggles and principles.

Regarding the proportional representation (PR) system in nation election, which is currently a topic of discussion, Rizvi questioned, "Now all of a sudden, some political parties are talking a lot about this. My friends, what is the PR system? Can any citizen explain it? Do the people in the villages, the common people of this country, know what it is? It has never been used. There is no precedent for it. The people do not want this."

He then asked the party members present at the meeting, "Do you want an election with the PR system?" The workers immediately chanted "No, no!" He then said that the people want direct elections.

Dhaka District BNP President Khondaker Abu Ashfaq presided over the discussion while General Secretary Nipen Roy moderated it.

BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Dr. Dewan Salauddin Babu and Tamiz Uddin, Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal Vice President Jahidul Kabir and Dr. Jahangir Hossain, among others, participated in the discussion.
