ACC lunches drives, unearths irregularities in Rajshahi, Bagerhat

DHAKA, Sept 03, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today launched separate drives by its enforcement teams at Charghat in Rajshahi and Sharankhola of Bagerhat districts and found irregularities and corruptions.

An enforcement team of Rajshahi Integrated District Office of the ACC conducted a drive at Charghat Pourashava on the basis of allegation of irregularities in installing water supply project. The pourashava has been implementing the project at a cost of Taka eight crore under the supervision of Local Government and Public Health and Engineering Department (DPHE).

The team collected project related documents, talked to the concerned officials and saw the water supply pumps, lines and reserve tanks in person. They also took the statements of the service receivers who complained that they are not getting due water from this project. 

The enforcement team found negligence, corruption and irregularities in implementing the project. They will submit a detailed report on this issue to the commission for taking further measures.

On the other hand, another team of the ACC Bagerhat Integrated District Office conducted a drive at Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex to investigate into allegations of irregularities, harassment and issuance of fake medical certificates.

The team, during the drive, found below quality food served to the patients and irregularities in treating patients. They suggested the hospital authority to take appropriate measures in these regards. They also found the chamber of an accused doctor of the hospital under lock and key but collected a visiting card and note pad from an assistant of the doctor.

The team also found initial proof of issuing fake medical certificates during the operation. They also submitted a report on this drive to the commission.

ACC officials said that such drives would also be continued across the country on the basis of allegations of irregularities and corruptions in future.
